Studio Practice With Frances: Wanted Poster

For this one i wanted to make it look like this only because the face of every wanted poster is not positive. When i was thinking of the photos to use for my poster i wanted to get a image of me where i am standing straight ahead.

What Worked?

I really like the challenge of looking at wanted posters and imitating it. Processing the image through Illustrator and Photoshop.

What Didn't work?

Having to draw every single tattoo was a good challenge for me. but the negative sides was positioning the text and placing them in the right place.

What Next?

In the next couple of weeks i will experimenting with the colors and position of text for this image and see how i achieve this negative and positive.

This image that i did for frankie addams she's an actress on Shortland street  a few months ago for her campaign My body my terms. Was about girls on social media that are not aware of who is watching them when they are taking nude photos of themselves. I sent it to her and she uploaded the photo on her instagram.

This image has to be one of the realist things that i have done in a while only because anyone can relate to it when it comes to negative people. Words can only take you so far but when it comes to people that try and put you down it doesn't help at all. To rise above this you stay positive move forward and one day they will know why you took that path.

So for the second part of this term i will be doing another comic strip and i will be having another storyline of how they end up swapping lives and how they are living their life. 

So to refresh memories the story, its about two boys, one lives in Otara with his mom and the other boy lives in The city. From there the boy in The city steals and gets arrested but what he doesn't know is that the boy in the Otara looks like him. So both get arrested and get taken to holding cells. 

They then met each other and realise that there brothers and were split from birth. So the brother that lives in Otara makes a plan with the other brother, that they swap lives because the one in The city has lived a hard life. 

So from there this is where i develop my second story. I have asked a few of my class mates on how they think a boy should act in a similar space. 

Bad Boy In The City 

• Stealing cars.
• Vandalising the community
• Taking innocent people's valuables 
• Holding up the store
• Being wanted from the police 
• Creating a gang throughout the city 
• Modern day King Kong

Good Boy In the Hood 

• Clean up the community 
• Study/Run Programs for the youth 
• Help prevent crime
• Give money to the poor
• Help Random people/Old 

What Worked?

I really like how i approached my classmates and asked them on how they think the story or how they would act in are different space. Having them involved in the story makes everything easy.

What Didn't work?

Not as much from now because its more of the planning. But to make everything clear helps me in the future. 

What Next? 

From here i am going to take photos and get the wanted poster going. Experiment with the information that my classmates have given to me.

This is most of my recent work that i have done so far in the past 6 Months I have also done extra work on the side such as animations for my customers and i am really proud on how far i have come as are visual artist based in South Auckland.

Lilo & Stitch 

With the stitch i changed everything in the picture from his ears to his shoes. Added tattoos onto the image and are paper and pencil to show the find side of my childhood.

Crash Bandicoot

This has to be my favourite cartoon that i have ever done so far. I really like how i started this, if you notice the tattoos are the exact tattoos i have on me. Just to symbolise me when it comes to crash bandicoot because i also have him tattooed on my neck.

Final Ideas

In these images below i have brainstormed and have come up with ideas that i will use towards my show for the end of the year. I really like the outcome of what i came up with and excited with the final outcome of my work.

The two images below is what my final work is going to look like with the wanted poster of me in the middle and the comic that i did on the left and the new comic on the right side.
